從首部曲 Anakin 出現就很明顯他將墮入 dark side 的徵兆， 從小就離開母親，心中一直掛念著她，可是作為一個 Jedi Knigh 是需要無私超我，在他母親遇害之後卻無法因他擁有 Force 或身為 Jedi 去拯救她，令 Anakin 不斷自責，憤而殺 死所有的 Tuskens，並承諾 Padme ""I will be the most powerful Jedi ever.""，卻又在對付 Count Dooku 的時候失 去右手，讓他感到他需要更強大的力量。
另一方面因從小天賦異稟，自恃具備比其他 Jedi 強的 Force， 認為 Obiwan 嫉妒他的能力，不讓他進步，Yoda 也說過：""A flaw more and more common among Jedi. Too sure of themselves they are. Even the older, more experienced ones."" 種種在 Anakin 內心的衝突導致他最後會成為 Sith 的 一份子。或許像是練功練到走火入魔吧。
